Lyn Hewson (UK)
I am approved by the Kennel Club under ID Number 179278 to award Challenge Certificates in both Afghan Hounds and Rhodesian Ridgebacks.
I first awarded CCs in Afghans in 1997 and have judged the breed at Championship level on several occasions since that time. I have an appointment to judge Dogs here in the UK next year.
I first judged Ridgebacks as far back as 1994 and, having judged at two Breed Club Shows, I awarded CCs in Ridgebacks, for the first time, last year. I am delighted to say that I have been invited to judge the breed again in 2012.
I am currently undergoing A2 Assessment in Borzoi which, hopefully, I should complete by the time I have fulfilled my Breed Club appointment in September.
In addition to the above, I have judged other hounds at open show level and, over the years, have also stewarded extensively, including at Crufts.
I have owned Afghan Hounds since 1974 but sadly, we lost our last in 2008 at the age of 12 years. We are now involved in Rhodesian ridgebacks and own two dogs, the first joining our family in 2003 followed by her half brother in 2005. We are proud of the fact that both dogs have been consistent winners in the UK, Ireland and on the Continent.
I have been heavily involved in Club administration over the years having served on several Breed Club Committees. At present I am Secretary of the East of England Afghan Club, a position that I have held for the past 14 years! I was proposed as a Member of the Kennel Club early 2009 and honoured and delighted that this was confirmed during the latter part of the year.
Finally, in 2000, I was approved by KUSA and had the honour to judge Afghan Hounds for the Natal Club as part of their Durban Weekend.
